THE FLOWERY BALCONIES AT MARINA BAY SANDS
During my days in Singapore, I tried to find an answer to the question "What is the most Singaporean thing?" The more I tried to understand, the more I fell into a state of confusion. And at the moment I caught sight of those balconies, I realized that “the most Singapore thing" I was looking for throughout the trip it was civilization; it’s truly civilized.

At an interview with New Perspectives Quarterly Magazine, when being asked about a factor that contributed to the success of the Lion island, the Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew replied that it was air conditioner. “Air conditioner is the most important invention to us, possibly one of the most prominent inventions in history. It has changed the nature of civilization when helping tropical regions to develop. The first thing I started to do when I became the Prime Minister was installing air conditioners in office buildings.
There are air conditioners everywhere, because buildings is the most abundant thing in Singapore. No matter how hot the Singapore weather is, even if you need to move from one place to another, you just go through the basement from one building to another and catch a train to anywhere without worrying about the weather. It seems like there was an underground world, where it could make people unaffected by the weather but still meets all the needs of entertainment. Before coming to Singapore, I awared that I should bring a thin long-sleeved jacket, as with air conditioners, they always kept the temperature very low. Since I arrived Changyi Airport and boarded a taxi, I realized that the warning was not a joke. My first impression of Singapore is that air conditioning temperature is always low !!
